Sofiya Kamalova Rogova
I am a PhD candidate at the Institute López Piñero (University of Valencia), funded by CIACIF (EU). My research interests focus on contemporary history of public health, oral history and ignorance studies. Building on PhD research about the Ardystil syndrome outbreak in Textile Factories in Alcoi and Cocentaina (1987-2003), I analyse “transnational ignorance” as a lens to understand the management of occupational health hazards and the circulation of toxicity (both as material products and knowledge) across borders.

BIOGRAPHY
I completed a degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies and a master’s in History of Science and Scientific Communication with excellence awards for my thesis (both at the University of Alicante). I then completed a master’s in bioethics (KU Leuven) with the Fund Roger Borghgraef Scholarship. I have been a visiting researcher at the Science History Institute (University of Pennsylvania), supported by a short-term SHI fellowship, and a visiting student at Institut d'Història de la Ciència (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). I obtained a Research Award from the Society for the History of Alchemy and Chemistry to conduct oral history interviews, and I am also involved in Red Ibérica de Historia Oral.
